Terms

These are the terms for using Monty at montytrading.com and in the desktop app. By signing in you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Monty.

Trading is risky, and Monty is not advice

Trading futures carries a substantial risk of loss, and you can lose more than you expect. Monty is software for practising and placing your own trades. It is not financial, investment or trading advice, and nothing in it, including anything Ask Monty says, is a recommendation to buy or sell. Past results, in practice or live, do not predict future ones.

Every trade is your decision and your responsibility. Monty never places a trade on its own: every entry is your click. Its risk rules can refuse an entry that breaks your plan, but they are a tool, not a guarantee. Keep a hard daily loss limit set at your broker as well.

Things can go wrong

Monty depends on your internet connection, your broker, market data and our own servers, and any of them can fail, lag or be wrong. An order may not reach your broker, a price may be stale, or a chart may show something that isn't there. Always check your position and orders at your broker, and never rely on Monty as your only record of them.

Your account

You sign in with a Google account, and your Monty account is for you alone. Don't share it. You're responsible for what happens under it, and for keeping your devices secure, because your broker login is stored on the device you entered it on.

Free and paid

Free access is by invitation: signing in puts you on a list, and we let people in as we can. Free access covers practice on past market days. Trading live through a connected broker needs a paid subscription, which gets you in straight away. The price is shown before you pay, and payments are handled by Stripe.

Monty is new and changes often, so things can break. We may end free access, or change what it includes, at any time.

A subscription renews automatically each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page, and you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. We don't refund part-used periods, except where the law says we must. If we change the price, we'll tell you before it applies to you.

Your broker

To trade live you need your own account with a supported broker, such as Topstep or Tradovate. Your use of that account is governed by your broker's own terms, and by the rules of any funded or evaluation program you are in, including any rules about third-party software. It's your job to check that using Monty is allowed on your account. Monty is not affiliated with Topstep, Project X, Tradovate or TradingView.

Market data

The market data in Monty is licensed for your personal use inside Monty only. Don't copy, download in bulk, resell or redistribute it.

Fair use

Don't try to break, overload, scrape or reverse engineer Monty, get around its limits or its risk rules, or use it for anything unlawful. Ask Monty and voice notes have daily allowances so they stay available for everyone.

Your data

Your journal is yours. We only use it to run Monty for you. The privacy page says what we store and who else sees it.

Changes and ending

Monty is changing all the time. Features may be added, changed or removed. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and tell you in the app. You can stop using Monty whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Our liability

Monty is provided as it is, without any promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for trading losses, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or takes away your rights as a consumer.
